SYNOPSIS :
This stunningly serious B&W art film tells a story of lost love. Gerardo, a gay teenager, roams the streets of Mexico City in search of someone able to reveal the secret hidden between the lines of a goodbye letter from his ex-lover.

Like cinematic poetry where all the lines are meaningful, but much of the story is between the lines, A Thousand Clouds of Peace is a difficult masterpiece that needs close attention. Gerardo (Ortuño), a stunning actor, wanders the streets of Mexico City searching for the meaning in a letter from his ex-lover Bruno. He thought he had found true love with Bruno, but somehow it wasn't meant to be. Throughout the film Gerardo reads portions of the letter as he sinks further and further into sadness over his lost love. Gerardo goes with other men, but they all bring back memories of his lost love. He discusses it with his waitress pal, but she says get another man. He goes in search of his estranged mother, and she just pushes him away.
Shot on a crisp B&W stock, director Hernández has created a film that will live long past gay film festival showings. A Thousand Clouds of Peace is an inspired art film for aficionados. While the movie has plenty of sexy moments, some nudity and the star is a superb hunk -- that's not why you should attend this screening. See A Thousand Clouds because you want to dive into one of the best gay art films ever. (Spanish with English subtitles)
